Martin Wood - Non-Executive Director

The Team

A pioneer of the industry, Martin Wood, in 1990, founded PA Interim Management which he ran for six years before leaving to establish BIE Interim Executive. BIE is the UK’s leading practice. As well as working on strategic assignments, Martin now advises BIE on strategy and direction.


Nick Diprose

Nick Diprose

Nick is a graduate in International Business and Modern Languages from UK and French business schools.

Following commercial roles with a FTSE 100 plc, Nick has established a strong reputation for successfully delivering a wide range of UK and international assignments for clients including VC and Private Equity backed firms to large listed UK, US and European companies.

Nick is Managing Director of BIE.


Sue Smith

Sue Smith

As a specialist interim management provider, Sue has spent the last 9 years focusing on the functional areas of finance, general management and operations. Working with a client base ranging from SME's through to FTSE 50 companies, she has successfully delivered both UK and European based assignments. Sue's background includes 20 years in Finance with a wide range of sectors including property, engineering and services industries.


Stuart Cain

Stuart Cain

Stuart has been a specialist interim management consultant since 1996 and has undertaken hundreds of assignments in both the Public and Private sectors.  He was a speaker at the Cabinet Office / HM Treasury sponsored Invest-to-Save Budget conference and writes thought-leadership articles on Interim Management.

He spent 10 years as Managing Director (4 years as an interim) leading 5 turnarounds (software, packing, furniture and freight-forwarding) — the last 2 in Spain and Denmark working for David James.


Steve Dengel

Steve Dengel

Steve Dengel has been a specialist consultant in interim management for over 8 years with a significant number of wide ranging senior placements to his name, across both public and private sectors and involving all functional specialities.

In the relatively early days of interim management he was one of the industry's early pioneers of its application at senior level within the UK Regions. His background includes some 25 years in senior Sales and Marketing roles in the business to business service sector, including periods at Hays and Sketchley.

Located in the Midlands, he expanded BIE's presence outside its central London operation, opening the first regional office in 2003.


Deborah O'Donovan

Debora O'Donovan

Deborah O’Donovan has specialised in senior interim management placements for the past six years with a particular focus on the Financial Services Sector and Programme Management.

Based in London, Deborah has successfully delivered interim solutions to clients across the UK and Europe and previously worked in Hong Kong. With an Honours degree in European Finance & Accounting with German, she is now extending her knowledge of languages by getting to grips with Mandarin.


Amanda Johnston

Amanda Johnston

Amanda, a graduate with a Masters degree in strategic human resource development, has spent 20 years as an HR Professional in range of FMCG and blue chip organisations, most recently as Group HR Director for a Group of 5 SME’s. Amanda has an in-depth understanding of the benefits of using Senior Interim Executives from the client perspective, sponsoring the use of interim executives in several organisations.

During her HR career Amanda has managed acquisitions, disposals, turnarounds and rapid business growth situations.


Neil Ellett

Neil Elliot

Following an earlier career as an RAF pilot, Neil has joined BIE Interim Executive from PA Consulting where he was a Partner specialising in large-scale technology and change programmes in the public and private sector.

He has experience of working alongside interims, selling and delivering professional services at board level and below and recruiting and building teams of consultants and senior advisors. Neil has chaired and presented at many conferences as well as been quoted in national media and professional journals.
